Abdul Khaliq threw a hand grenade in a madrassa on December 3, 2007. ATC-1, headed by judge Najeebullah Khan, also sentenced Khaliq to 40 years of rigorous imprisonment and a Rs 100,000 fine for injuring four students. The court also sentenced him to 14 years in jail for possessing explosives. The court acquitted another accused, Commander Abdul Sattar Kakar, due to lack of evidence.
