PAKISTAN: SEVEN MORE MURDER CONVICTS HANGED

at least seven prisoners were sent to gallows in Pakistan between September 2 and 3. Since the de facto ban on capital punishment ended on 17 December 2014, at least 227 people, including twenty-five convicted terrorists, have been executed across the country. On September 2nd, death row convicts Arshad Mahmood and Zahoor Husain were executed in Jhelum District central Jail. Arshad Mahmood had killed a person on a feud in 2005 while Zahoor Husain killed three person in 1992 over a quarrel. On the same day, another convicted killer Ajmal alias ‘Pathar’ was executed in Bahawalpur New Central Jail. He killed a person named Zamir in 2001. Four more murder convicts were hanged in two jails on September 3rd. Three death row convicts were sent to the gallows in the Bahawalnagar Central Jail early in the morning, Dunya News reported.
Bota Murad was executed for murdering a woman from Harronabad in 2003. Another death row convict, Muhammad Khan Joya had killed a man named Abdul Malik in 1995 while prisoner Faqeer Muhammad was hanged for killing a boy after molesting him in 2004. Another death row convict, Maqbool alias Qulli, was hanged in Kasur District Jail.
