Judge Faiz Rasool Rashdi awarded the death penalty to Ashfaq Shah and Sakhawat Shah. On April 27, 1996, Ashfaq Shah and Sakhawat Shah entered the house of Abdul Aziz Shaikh and when the inmates put up resistance they opened fire, killing all four family members, including Abdul Aziz Shaikh, his wife Sakina, son Tariq and daughter Rani.
