Pasqualina Napoletano, European elected member of the Democratici di Sinistra, expressed indignation about the fact that the Italian Presidency had renounced presenting to the UN a proposal of resolution on a moratorium on the death penalty. Ms Napoletano recalled that Silvio Berlusconi had undertaken to do so on 2 July in Strasbourg before the European Parliament, and that the Parliament adopted, on 23 October, a resolution insisting on such an initiative.
