the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is actively monitoring and negotiating 59 death penalty cases, the majority of which are drug-related cases in China. Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs Esteban Conejos Jr. said of the 59 cases, 49 are pending with courts and the rest are in preliminary stage. "Of the total number, 39 of them are drug-related and many of them are in China," he said in a press conference.
