[photographer] Oliviero Toscani commenting on the postponement of the execution of North Carolina death row inmate Bobby Lee Harris, said "I hope he gets a commutation of his sentence, or even a pardon. However what is really important is the abolition of the death penalty the world over, not just the blocking of one particular execution. We can't continue believing that justice is served by executing people." Toscani had photographed 28 death row inmates, including Harris, in 1999.
