Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki reaffirmed Iraq's right to execute former leader Saddam Hussein, sentenced to death for crimes against humanity.

Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki reaffirmed Iraq's right to execute former leader Saddam Hussein, sentenced to death for crimes against humanity.
"We will not renounce one iota of our right to hang the dictator Saddam, despite certain predictions that his execution will provoke a civil war," said Maliki while meeting families of victims of the former regime.
He further reiterated his government's determination to fight the "Baathists and Saddamists who are trying to provoke sectarian violence" in the country.
