A Palestinian military court in the West Bank sentenced a man to death after convicting him of collaborating with Israeli intelligence.
The 23-year-old convict is a security officer and has admitted spying for Israel, said a source in the Palestinian National Authority’s military judiciary.
He was sentenced to be executed by a firing squad, but the verdict is pending President Mahmoud Abbas’ approval.
In Gaza, Islamic Hamas movement which ran the coastal enclave after routing pro-Abbas forces in 2007, has executed 14 Palestinians without getting Abbas’ approval as the basic Palestinian law stipulates.
