Pope John Paul renewed appeals to U.S. authorities not to execute Rocco Barnabei. "In the spirit of clemency of the (2000) Jubilee Year, I add my voice once more to those who are asking that the life of young Derek Rocco Barnabei not be taken," he said during his weekly general audience.
