a Doha appeals court in Qatar commuted the death penalty given to two Bangladeshi men, one a minor, by a lower court to a life sentence and a 10-year imprisonment. The duo was found guilty of robbing and killing a 73-year-old local man and burning his body in a supermarket in the Old Salata area on June 20, 2006. Explaining the decision, the upper court said it had taken into consideration the age of the first accused, three months under 16 on the day of the crime, and reduced his sentence to 10-year imprisonment while his accomplice, now 28, was sentenced to life.
