Relatives of prisoners sentenced to death for their participation in clashes with the Lebanese Army in Dinnieh last January demonstrated outside the Mansouri Mosque in Tripoli. The protesters, who were mainly mothers or sisters of prisoners, marched from the mosque to Tal Square, holding banners that criticized the death sentences. "Why should collaborators (with Israel) be treated differently from our sons?" read one banner. Abdullah Babetti, an al-Jamaa al-Islamiya official who is running for a parliamentary seat, also took part in the one-hour march. A statement issued by the protesters demanded that any death sentences issued in the case be waived.
