Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov, in an interview with the Vremya novostei daily, said that the Iraqis themselves should judge Saddam and decide his fate, as an internation tribunal for Iraq does not exist.
Asked whether Russia would intercede on behalf of Saddam should he be condemned to death, Ivanov replied that "the decision would concern solely the Iraqi jurisprudence, that represents the interests of the country and its future."
