The move by the Forum to declare its stand on the death penalty was made during a meeting with Ministry of Justice officials. The Ministry had been holding consultative sessions to solicit views from different segments of society on the controversial issue.
The forum included the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF), Christian Democratic Party (PDC), Islamic Democratic Party (PDI), Rwandan Socialist Party (PSR), Rwandan People's Democratic Union (UDPR), Social Democratic Party (PSD), Liberal Party (PL) and the Party for Progress and Concord.
