Saadollah Rahimi and Dalir Mohammadi, two Iranians convicted of kidnapping and murdering an eight-year-old boy eight days previously, were executed by hanging in the western Kurdish town of Baneh.
After a speedy trial, the two were found guilty of the February 29 killing of Sina Mohammadi. A third man, Foad Forouzesh, was found guilty of complicity in the crime and sentenced to 15 years in jail.
The murder of the boy had reportedly sparked protests in the town and calls for a quick punishment of the killers.
