Salim Akra, 37, a Palestinian suspected of collaborating with Israel in the killing of a Hamas activist was tortured to death by the Palestinian Authority's military intelligence.
"They hung him a week from his hands, and many times they hung him from his legs. One day, one of my colleagues there heard that he lost feeling in his legs; they became paralysed," said Silby Akra, who works for one of the branches of Palestinian intelligence and heard about the death from colleagues.
The Palestinian Society for the Protection of Human Rights and the Environment said that Mr Akra's body had been seen in a Nablus mortuary by his cousin, Ashraf Nofal, who said his wrists and ankles were badly marked and that there were signs of beating on the right side of his head.
The alleged torture of Mr Akra is the first such killing by Palestinian authorities.
