Saudi Arabia executed two women, a mother and daughter, convicted of killing their husband and father and burning his body in the desert. The Interior Ministry said that an Islamic sharia court had convicted the daughter of drugging her father with sleeping pills and then shooting him with a pistol. The two women then carried the body into the desert and set it on fire "in a bid to conceal the crime". It said the mother had incited the daughter to kill her father. Executions were carried out in the city of Hafr al-Baten in eastern Saudi Arabia.
In a separate incident, a Saudi man was executed for shooting to death a relative in a dispute in southwestern Saudi Arabia.
