the Saudi news agency SPA website carried a Saudi Arabian Interior Ministry statement saying that the Court of Cassation upheld the death sentence against Hadi Bin-Ali Al Sulayman who was convicted of the crime of opening fire on a vehicle carrying prisoners in Najran with the aim of enabling a prisoner to escape.
The sentence was carried out in Najran. Al Sulayman, in his late 20s, was sent to prison four years ago for helping a friend convicted of drug trafficking escape from jail.
His original sentence of 10 years in prison was changed to the death penalty a few days ago.
