the Saudi Arabian Press Agency announced that the Shari'ah Court convicted Saudi national Dahyan Bin-Rakan Bin-Sa'd al-Thawri al-Subay'i of the crime of murdering fellow Saudi national Husayn Bin-Bashir Bin-Batil al-Thawri al-Subay'i, and that he was sentenced to death. The sentence was carried out in Al-Ta'if in Mecca Region. According to Amnesty International, Dhahian Rakan al-Sibai'i was sentenced to death for a murder he allegedly committed when he was just 15 years old. He was held in a juvenile facility until his 18th birthday and then moved to an adult prison. Dhahian appealed to the families of the victim to pardon him -- as allowed by Shari'a law -- but the outcome of his appeal is not known.
