Seychelles abolished the death penalty for all crimes in 1993. The Constitution of the Republic of Seychelles (1993) at Art. 15 states: "A law shall not provide for a sentence of death to be imposed by any court."
On December 18, 2014 Seychelles voted in favor of the Resolution on a Moratorium on the Use of the Death Penalty at the UN General Assembly, as in 2012 voted in favor and were absent in 2010, 2008 and 2007.
