Seychelles abolished the death penalty for all crimes in 1993. The Constitution of the Republic of Seychelles (1993) at Art. 15 states: "A law shall not provide for a sentence of death to be imposed by any court."
Seychelles co sponsored the resolution on the death  penalty approved by the UN Commission on Human Rights on April 20, 2005.
