Shelton D. Jackson, sentenced to death in the slaying of Monica Decator, 23, on April 8, 1997, won a new trial because had ineffective counsel during the trial. In a unanimous decision, the Court of Criminal Appeals threw out the murder conviction and ordered a new trial.
