SOMALIA: 14 AL-SHABAAB MILITANTS SENTENCED TO DEATH IN PUNTLAND

A military court in Puntland on 8 April 2023 sentenced 14 members of the militant group Al-Shabaab, to death. 
The 14 convicts' ages range from 18 to 54, with 11 of them being born in Galkayo. Two of the convicts allegedly confessed to the murder of journalist Jamal Farha Adan, who was murdered in March 2021 in northern Galkayo. 
Puntland has recently increased the sentencing of Al-Shabaab members in prison, and on 8 March this year, 13 militants from the Al-Shabaab and Islamic State terror groups were executed by firing squad.
