SOMALIA: MILITARY EXECUTES TWO AL-SHABAAB MEMBERS IN MOGADISHU
Somali military authorities on 7 January 2019 executed two members of the Al-Shabaab militia group in the capital of Mogadishu, after being convicted for the murder of a traditional elder in Mogadishu.
Somali military authorities on 7 January 2019 executed two members of the Al-Shabaab militia group in the capital of Mogadishu, after being convicted for the murder of a traditional elder in Mogadishu. The victims, identified as Ali Hassan (25), and Abdirahman Isse (Ali 22), were reportedly caught red-handed by police after they killed, Hilowle Heefow Hussein.
Judges of the Military Court concluded that Ali and Hassan, who are members of Al-Shabaab, were guilty of the murder of Hussein in Wadajir district last year. The deputy Chairperson of Somali Military Court, Mohamed Abdi Mumin, who was present at the scene of the execution, said the court had found sufficient evidence confirming the charges levelled against the two.
They were executed by a firing squad.
