SOUTH KOREA CONSIDERS REVISING DEATH PENALTY PROVISIONS

South Korea's justice minister said his ministry is considering revising some provisions on capital punishment. "Before making a decision on whether to abolish the death penalty, we are considering whether there are some provisions that need to be scrapped," Justice Minister Kim Seong-ho told a local newspaper. For example, the ministry is studying a provision which allows a judge to order the death penalty against soldiers who injure themselves to avoid battle.
