two Sri Lankans were sentenced to death by the Colombo High Court after being convicted of murder. Judge Warawewa convicted Siriwardana Arachchige Parakrama and Molligoda Liyanaarachchige Manoj Gunawardana for the murder of Niroshan Nadeeth Rampika at Welikada on June 11, 1998. Rampika was murdered with a knife on the instructions of a person named Christopher and his body was found at the Borella cemetery. A third man, Manjula, was acquitted as his charges could not be proved beyond reasonable doubt. The two were sentenced each to seven and a half year Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and fined Rs. 2,000, plus one year RI in default.
