In Sri Lanka, a man was sentenced to death by the Panadura Magistrate for murdering his wife in 1992.
Panadura Magistrate Kusala Weerawardena issued the death sentence after the man was found guilty for the crime.
He had forced his wife into his vehicle and poured petrol on it and set it on fire.
She was killed in the fire.
Making a special statement to the court, the accused said the allegations against him were false and he had no reason to murder his wife.
