SUDAN: MUEZZIN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR RAPE

The Criminal Court of Kassala on 15 October 2018 convicted a muezzin of raping a five-year-old girl, and sentenced him to death by hanging.
The muezzin, aged 60, served at a mosque in a village near Kassala town when he raped the girl.
According to Judge Majid Abashar the medical examination confirmed “this brutal crime”. He said in his verdict that “the murderer of innocence must be killed”.
