Superior Court Judge Robert Devlin Jr. formally imposed the death penalty on Russell Peeler Jr., 35, to death for ordering his younger brother to kill Karen Clarke and her son, Leroy "B.J." Brown Jr.. The killings took place on Jan. 7, 1999. The boy was scheduled to testify against Peeler for his role in the May 1998 murder of Clarke's fiance, Rudy Snead. A jury of 6 men and 6 women decided in October that Peeler should die for his crime. Peeler's brother, Adrian, was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder, despite being the accused shooter. Adrian Peeler was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
