the Taiwan High Court commuted the death sentence of handed down to Filipino citizen Cecilia Alcaraz, also known as "Nemencia Armia", a 40 year old, to life imprisonment. The High Court’s Kaohsiung branch spokesman, Weng Ching-chen, said the court commuted the sentenced because “the killing was a sudden occurrence, and was not premeditated.” The Kaohsiung District Court convicted her for fatally stabbing her job broker, 48-year-old Chou Mei-yun, in September 2007. She was also charged with robbery and murder.
