Bobby Lee Hines, 40, white, was executed in Texas for the Oct. 20, 1991 killing of 26-year-old Michelle Wendy Haupt.
Hines was tried and convicted in March 1992. He initially was scheduled to die in 2003, but his execution was delayed for eight years until the courts resolved claims that he was mentally impaired.
Hines becomes the 11th condemned inmate to be put to death this year in Texas and the 488th overall since the state resumed capital punishment on December 7, 1982. Hines becomes the 33rd condemned inmate to be put to death this year in the USA and the 1310th overall since the nation resumed executions on January 17, 1977.
