TEXAS (USA): MAN EXECUTED FOR BRAZILIAN MAN'S MURDER

Michael Sigala was executed in Texas. Sigala, 32, hispanic, was condemned in 2001 for the August 23, 2000 fatal shooting of 28-year-old Kleber Santos. He and his wife were killed in their apartment.
Sigala was charged with the wife's slaying but was not tried.
During his final statement, Sigala asked for forgiveness from relatives of the slain couple. Sigala told them: "I have no reason for why I did it. I don't understand why I did it. I hope that you can live the rest of your lives without hate."
The U.S. Supreme Court last week refused to review Sigala's case. No new appeals were filed before his execution.
Sigala becomes the 3rd condemned inmate to be put to death this year in Texas and the 450th overall since the state resumed capital punishment on December 7, 1982. Sigala becomes the 8th condemned inmate to be put to death this year in the USA and the 1196th overall since the nation resumed executions on January 17, 1977.
