The 1991 (amended in 2001) Constitution of the Republic of Macedonia at Art. 10 states:

The 1991 (amended in 2001) Constitution of the Republic of Macedonia at Art. 10 states: "The human right to life is irrevocable. The death penalty shall not be imposed on any grounds whatsoever in the Republic of Macedonia."
On July 13, 2004, Macedonia ratified Protocol No 13 to the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms banning the death penalty in all circumstances. It entered into force on November 1, 2004.
On December 18, 2008 and December 21st, 2010, Macedonia co-sponsored and voted in favour of the Resolution on a Moratorium on the Use of the Death Penalty at the UN General Assembly.
