The 9th U

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, citing ineffective counsel, overturned the death sentence for Demetrie Ladon Mayfield. Mayfield was convicted and sentenced to death in 1983 for the murders of Ora Mae Pope and John Moreno. In the new sentencing hearing he could receive the death penalty or life in prison without parole.
