The annulment of the death sentence imposed on Ocalan would constitute the first step towards a solution to the Kurdish issue, the Kurdistan Workers' Party said in a statement. It called on the Turkish state, the EU and NATO countries to carry out "the requirements of the solution process" and said that "if an erroneous step is taken, the seeds of a new uprising will have been planted."
