The Catholic Church in Rwanda expressed appreciation for the acquittal of Father Edward Nturiye and Father Jean-Francois Kayiranga. Father Augustin Musada, the secretary-general for the Rwandan Episcopal Conference said, "The church is quite happy about overturning this death sentenceof its two priests. The judiciary had an uphill task which they have performed so well so far. It was not easy proving these people innocent."
