The Chechen Interior Ministry issued a statement which noted that hostages in Russian concentration camps were being systematically beaten up with special lead-core truncheons and tortured with electricity, pulling out nails, crushing limbs, and using gases and chemicals. A part of the hostages were executed by firing squad practically every day, and their bodies are subsequently burnt or dissolved in unslaked lime. Over the past 10 weeks, about 230 hostages were tortured to death in the Urus-Martan concentration camp. The bodies of 205 hostages were eliminated without leaving any traces.
