the Committee for the Monitoring of the Syrian Society and Human stated that the Syrian authorities had executed the civil engineer Yasser al-Sakka, born in Aleppo in year 1970, married with two children, nearly a month before, without any prior edict and without notifying his family.
The news was spread in Aleppo after the wife of Yasser al-Sakka, Mrs. Aya Batal, daughter of Dr. Nizar Batal, submitted before the census office a request for a family record. The officer in charge informed her that her husband was deceased; she actually denied the information for she thought her husband was still held in prison by the Syrian secret services. The officer reviewed his records and informed her that her husband was executed upon a judgment issued by the Syrian authorities.
It is due to mention that al-Sakka family is a conservative family from Aleppo with Turkish origins. Yasser al-Sakka was executed on religious grounds related to Islamism. The family of Dr. Nizal Batal has already lost two sons (Ahmed and Mahmoud) in Iraq and Afghanistan, and one of the brothers-in-law also disappeared in a very mysterious way.
The number of Islamic prisoners in Syrian prisons is estimated at thousands of individuals, the majority of them being held in the military prison of Saydnaya.
