the Court of Assizes of Bamako sentenced 24-year-old Sounkodjan alias Bah Diarra to death a man after being convicted of murdering his old aunt Kamba Diarra. His 27-year-old co-defendant Mamadou Diarra was sentenced to life imprisonment. In August 2012, the two had beaten the woman to death while she slept and then throw her body into a pit in Sounkoudjambougou, municipality of Banamba.
