The Criminal Court sentenced a man to death after he was convicted of possessing more than Bt2.4 million worth of methamphetamine with intent to sell. Three of 45-year-old Manop Janthima's accomplices were spared the death penalty and sentenced to life imprisonment in exchange for providing useful testimony during their trials. Manop, Padermchai Thapom, 32, Thanamol Khamlue, 27, and Somret Janthima, 31, were arrested at a department store in Bangkok on August 27 last year after delivering 76,657 speed pills to undercover police.
