The Director General of Prisons, Mr. Richard Kuuire, in an interview on matters affecting prisoner welfare in the country said that in Ghana: "We have two kinds of executions - execution by hanging and execution by shooting by firing squad. I think '68 or so was the last time we ever did any hanging in this country. All the others were by firing squad, and the last time was in '93 where some armed robbers were executed".
