She was sentenced to death in July 2007 for killing Salem al-Otaibi, her employer’s son, following abusive treatment. She must now quickly return to her country of origin. The Philippine President, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, went to Kuwait in 2007 to obtain pardons for Vecina and Marilou Ranario.
