the EU Foreign Ministers expressed "serious concerns" over the "unacceptable" verdict given in Libya to five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor, sentenced to death for allegedly infecting hundreds of babies with HIV. From Brussels, the Ministers "confirm, out of principle, the EU’s opposition to the death penalty in all circumstances" and, in this case, "they are awaiting a speedy conclusion to the judicial incident, with respect to acceptable international standards."
The sentence given to the six health workers “ignores the solid evidence given by internationally renowned experts on the innocence of the accused."
