The French journalist who was captured disguised in a burka after entering Afghanistan was pelted with stones as the Taleban paraded him through the streets of Jalalabad.
An official of the Taleban's Bakhtar news agency said Michel Peyrard and two Pakistani journalists with him were stoned as they were marched, wearing burkas, through the city, a focus of US airstrikes.
Peyrard, 44, learnt that he and the Pakistanis face spying charges that can carry the death penalty.
