the Gaza City Criminal Court handed down two death sentences for the murder of a Gazan taxi driver 18 months ago.
Raed Fathi Rabah Al-Deeb, 24, and Eyad Sameer Sliman Abed, 30, were sentenced to death by hanging following their conviction for murder, and a life prison term for conviction on a charge of theft in relation to the same incident.
The third defendant in the case, Emad Younis Aliyan Al-Deeb, 30, was sentenced to one years imprisonment for conviction on theft charges. The three were arrested on 19 February 2003 and charged in connection with the killing of Majdi Hisham Safadi, 40, a Gaza taxi driver, on 27 June 2002. All three are being held in Gaza city prison.
