the Karnataka High court in India admitted an appeal by some jailed Deendar Anjuman activists against the death sentence awarded to 11 of them for their role in the church blasts that rocked Karnataka in 2000. A special court in Bangalore in November 2008 sentenced the 11 to death and 12 others to life for their role in the serial blasts during June-July 2000. The activists were pronounced guilty on November 21 by Special Judge S.M. Shivanagoudar. The Special Court sentenced to death Mohammad Ibrahim, Sheikh Hasham Ali, Hasnuzama, Abdul Rehaman Sait, Amanath Hussain Mulla, Mohammad Sharfuddin, Syed Muneerudin Mulla, Mohammad Akhil Ahmed, Ijahar Baig, Syed Abbas Ali and Mohammad Khalid Choudhary.
