The Kentucky Supreme Court ruled 4-to-2 to reverse the death sentence Clawvern Jacobs faced for the slaying of Judy Ann Howard in 1986. The Supreme Court reversed Jacobs' original conviction and death sentence in 1994, forcing a 2nd trial. This ruling - which overturned the sentence, but not the conviction - marks the 1st time the court twice has spared a man's life since Kentucky reinstated the death penalty in 1976. Jacobs now returns to Warren Circuit Court for his 3rd sentencing, which can range from 20 years to life in prison.
