The Legal Daily [Fazhi Ribao] said nine people were executed in Lanzhou [Gansu Province] while five others died in Yinchuan [Ningxia Province]. State media reported that five people faced the firing squad in Shenzhen, while an unspecified number were executed in Guangzhou [both in Guangdong Province] on the same day and 22 others received the death penalty. Three other executions were carried in Anhui Province where half a dozen people were also sentenced to death.
