The Miyazaki District Court in southern Japan sentenced to death Yasutoshi Matsuda, 34. He was found guilty of stabbing to death a 53-year-old bar manager on November 26, 2001 and strangling an 82-year-old tobacco store owner to death on December 7, 2001. Money was also stolen from both the crimes scenes. "The crime was extremely cold-hearted, cruel and vicious," said presiding judge Heinai Komatsu.
