The motives for the death sentences of the five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor, charged with intentionally infecting over 400 Libyan children with HIV, were given to the lawyers eight days after the legal deadline expired. A representative of the Bulgarian embassy received the motives late on June 14, 2004. The 218-page document was immediately given for translation. Nurses Christiana Valcheva, Nasya Nenova, Valentina Siropoulo, Valya Chervenyashka and Snezhana Dimitrova and Dr. Georgiev were arrested in February 1999.
