The Nagoya District Court sentenced 56-year-old Yoshimi Toyoda to death for murdering Kazuko Nakano, 44, and Hide Shinoda, 62 in 1996 and 1997. Kunihiko Ito, Toyoda's lawyer, said he would file an appeal for his client. "The ruling was based on a misunderstanding of the facts, and capital punishment itself is against the Constitution," he said.
